Daily Doodle: Been playing FFTA, looked around at job classes in that and FFTA2, decided the moogles were ridonculously adorable. Drew this guy. Had fun =) Time: 13 mins
I really liked the jobs in FFTA/2 - Viera jobs in particular are full of hearts for me. In all three games, though, I pick a small handful of STUFF WHAT IS COOL and stick to that like glue forever, which is problematic in TA because of the laws. (In TA2 I had a full clan and actually used all of them to various degrees; it was kind of cool.)
I had my first new clan person yesterday! This moogle just showed up and was all like HAI GUYZ. He is actually what prompted me to draw today's doodle >.>
QUESTION.
How the hell do turf wars work? I got my copy used sans booklet, which might have been a mistake, since I am guessworking my way through most of the interface. It has been FUN I TELL YOU WHAT trying to figure out how to get at all the screens! So right now I have "Clan" as an option in my main menu and when I look at my territory it is all grey/not yet liberated. How do I liberate areas to make them mine? So confused! Maybe I just haven't reached some kind of storyline thing that'll explain it for me?
Also. The Judges. I cannot decide if they are adorable or creepy >.>
Okay, so. I have my copy of the manual sitting not two feet from my computer chair, and the guide is only 5 feet away, so I am HAPPY to answer any questions that you have about the game. :D
Turf wars: As you progress, you'll start getting missions that say like "Free Cadoan!" or whatever. You take the mission, you go to the town, you fight a battle, and that place becomes yours. You'll get discounts in shops and on mission fees. Every now and again, other clans will be like O HAI I WANTS YOUR LANDS and the game will tell you "Sprohm is under attack!" and you have I think 20 days? 24? to go smackdown those guys and show them what for.
Also I'm assuming you figured this one out already XD but the way to unlock more jobs is to learn abilities in the jobs you already have. In FFT it's job levels; in FFTA it's job ABILITIES. So one of the best viera classes (if nothing else to transfer as a secondary skill), hands down, is Red Mage and I think you need 2 Fencer abilities and one White Mage ability to unlock it. (Oh, and do yourself a favour - any time you do a mission with Elda's Cup as a required item, Eldara will offer to join your clan. She's a red mage. Take her, even if you don't need another mage, because she brings with her the rapier that teaches Doublecast. Which is AWESOMELY USEFUL.)
Aha! So I am not being a doofus; the game is simply not letting me do anything about it yet! Because I could use some sweet sweet discounts >.>
Yes, I have figured out how to unlock jobs! I am excited about this Red Mage business because that is seriously one of my favourite classes and I was super sad to see ti kind of fade away after the early games! Plus it will be a hot lady viera so I am not sure there are any downsides to this =D
I tend to be kind of completist on the abilities -- I usually keep a weapon (or whatevs) equipped until I've pumped it dry of abilities, rather than moving on to more/better equipment as soon as I get it. This is a habit I picked up from FFIX, I'm sure. I get hives if my clan engages and someone ISN'T EARNING AP on something.
XDDDD Yeah, I'm like that too, I feel you on that one.
One of my most favourite things about FFTA2 is that while only the active participants in battle get EXP, the entire clan gets the relevant AP, meaning that if I have to detour through a crappy job to get to the one I really want (Tinker -> Juggler I AM LOOKING AT YOU) I can just stick that person in a corner until I've acquired the AP.
OH! Speaking of which. Two combos which are super awesome: Moogle Knight with Juggler secondary skills (Juggler abilities take no MP and do awesome things like cause Berserk, Confuse, and STOP), and Snipers with Assassin secondary skills (Viera-only; takes Archer prereqs for certain and I don't recall what else but I can look it up.) Sniper: bow death all over the battle field. Assassin: Last Breath, which costs 32 MP, but is a oneshot kill. Particularly effective with the Concentrate support ability equipped, but also works well in conjunction with Stop (see above Moogle Knight/Juggler combo.)
I also strongly recommend getting you an Illusionist, which I think requires 5 black mage abilities (you can do it either with a hume or a nu mou) - elemental damage to everyone in the enemy party. sooooo awesome.
