Title: Monkey Around
Fandom: Final Fantasy IX
Characters/Pairings: Garnet and Zidane
Rating: G!
Notes: I drew this to for wheatear for submitting her FANTASTIC Quina drabble to last week's ff_100 theme, FFIX: The roads we walk. I said I'd draw something for everyone who entered, and so this is the first of those. She asked for "Zidane monkeying around". To me, anything involving his tail counts, so I hope this is okay ^^;

I am REALLY proud of this one. It was also done entirely in tablet, and I'm just ecstatic that my tablet control seems to be improving so much. I also managed to not completely mangle a fairly unusual pose for Zidane. The hands and feet I'm especially proud of, and Garnet's hair. I'm (as always) less proud of the fabric, but at least it's not awful! There's still plenty of flaws, but overall I'm extremely pleased with my progress =D

I love Zidane's pose, and all those cute little touches like the way he's covering her eyes and the way you've drawn her hair and the sense of movement in the picture.

Zidane's pose was something I'd looked at as a challenge, but it turned out not being all that bad! I had some really major problems with his legs and perspective in the first draft, though. Oh, it was ugly XD

I tend to really enjoy drawing hair, and I tried a new technique this time. I guess it worked =D

Oh, I hope it's okay that there's no higher-quality version -- the file size turned out to be pretty small, so I didn't have to compress it much.

And thank you for writing such a lovely drabble and helping to resuscitateff_100 after the winter holidays killed it!

Oh, can I add you to my friends list? I've been hanging around this fandom for a little while and it seems like there are a lot of people who already know each other, which is pretty intimidating, and I'm kinda shy... so, er, yeah, it's really nice that you've made me feel welcome in the community. :) And I don't know if I had a point there. Oh well.

I'm a compelte hermit and really quite shy. I don't actually get out in fandom much -- I just tend to quietly do my own thing and crosspost a bit in communities, but that's about it. I don't actually know many people in fandom either, since I keep to myself so much. I'd fallen in with bottle_of_shine, though, by just about compelte accident, and now I do things like mod communities and such, but really, I'm still shy and reclusive. I try to be a good mod in my communities, but beyond that, uh. Yeah. There's not much beyond that ^^;

The point is that I wanted to let you know that I know how it feels, and that I'm pretty darn shy, myself =)

In other words -- yes! Feel free to friend me! I'll friend you back, though I don't check my friends page or individual people's journals very often -- I hope that's all right.

Nah, nah, you just have to be three parts crazy and one part stupid. It's mostly bottle_of_shine's fault that I'm out and about as much as I am. Even people with whom I interact a lot because we're working on the same fandom projects together don't see much of me anywhere else.

That is so omgz adorable. I love how you used such an unusual pose. That works so well for Zidane who is a really dynamic character who rarely sits still. I also adore the way you've given Dagger some actual hips there and I like the softness of her gestures as opposed to Zidane's. She really looks like someone who is blindfolded and uncertain. Seriously . . . so much love.

Zidane's pose was something I thought would be hell to pull off, but it actually turned out to be a lot of fun. With Garnet I had a really hard time getting her hands to look right for the tentative feel I was going for, but I hope it turned out okay in the end. As for Dagger's hips, uh... I think that's more of an inability on my part to draw in FFIX's style, but I'm glad you like it XD

The hair and the flowers are especially good, methinks, and the anatomy is seriously realistic looking. I can't imagine that's easy conidering the pose he's in!

Zidane does have some awesome boots. And I think I actually didn't mangle them too badly! I always have such a bitch if a time with feet.

Yep, that's Zack. It's the official FFVII Crisis Core (for PSP) artwork from Square-Enix. The game's not out yet, but the trailer and the main artworks are out. I just had to make an icon because now Zack's super hot (as opposed to the blocky old school bit from FF7. I thought he looked like a real hedgehog then. XD)
