HALP! Anyone out here know Metal Gear series and/or Devil May Cry?

Hey guys, I'm wrangling uhhh like 30-40 fandoms for AO3. A few of those are pity adoptees -- fandoms that went unclaimed for a long time. I'm going to wrangle the existing tags and pre-populate them as best as I can then release them into the wild. For most of these my passing knowledge is sufficient, but for a couple I would really prefer to have a real live fan/expert!

Two such are Devil May Cry and Metal Gear series. There really aren't enough video game wranglers (or fics/fans! Come on over guys!) on AO3, so I've been trying to catch unclaimed ones, pre-populate the tags, and release into the wild. In both these cases, I know enough about the canon to kinda-sorta pre-populate, but also enough to know I definitely can't actually handle these canons.

Of the two, the more dire is Metal Gear.

If anyone out there is willing to hold my hand a bit for either fandom, it would be immensely appreciated. This help really just consists of getting character names/identities straightened out (who's actually secretly an alias of someone else? what things are actually summons/facets/limit breaks of who?) and letting me know what some of the popular ships are. We make a list of characters and ships, and then I do all the grunt work of getting it into the archive.

So if anyone out thee wants to help! BETTER YET, if you want to come to AO3 and wrangle? PLEASE DO! =D

Lassarina's post sent me over and here I am. :) [I'm Lymsleia over at the tag wrangling mailing list, if you were wondering.] Metal Gear is one of my favourite fandoms, but I'm only just now playing my way through the series (well, through the fourth game by now) and am not exactly an expert, so I didn't pounce on it as a wrangler... but if you have any questions, I'll answer them to the best of my knowledge. ^.^

Oooh ooh! Yes! Thank you! Another Metal Gear fan has also come forward, but honestly the canon is so WTF that I would really appreciate more than one voice! Are you ever in tag wrangler chat? Want to co-wrangle with me? =D =D

The other Metal Gear person (not a wrangler, just a fan) has left me a big amount of information to work with already. It's full of spoilers though, so let me know if you want to look at it? Anyway, I'm setting up some time to talk with this fan to tell them how tagging works and ask their advice on the many thorny problems. If you like, with our powers combined, we can totally get this fandom done!

The canon is kind of brain-breaking at times. XD I haven't been to the chat so far, but I could find my way there in a couple minuts, for example? Co-wrangling sounds like a good plan to me!

I'm very, uh, spoiler-phobic when it comes to the fourth game but the rest of the series is fine. (Though that probably means that I should stay away from the info you got from our fellow fan?) Ah, yo pesky characters with your code names and your nicknames and your secret identities and--

I um. Kind of love Snake on principle and the crazy crazy totally canon gayness everywhere but honestly I am so lost XD

I can TRY to filter out MGS4 spoilers for you best as I can, but I am myself not sure what's specific to that game so uh! I'll try! We can at least settle general issues like what to do about code names and retcons. I'm around wrangler chat a lot off and on, but it's generally a good place to find me. I'm only there absentmindedly during working hours, but I'm around! I'm around pretty much all evening/afternoon, too.

Maybe I should just keep the chat open in a tab more often then. ^.^ Not sure when worktime/evening is for you (I'm at UTC+1 and get a headache every time I have to convert that to what it means in a different timezone), but I'm sure we'll run into each other. ;)

Yes you definitely should stay away from all that til you play the fourth game - yay unexploded spoiler bombs :)
