[Daily Doodle] Princess Yue from Avatar; help me find drawing software for the weekend?

Daily Doodle: Yue from Avatar. Pretty much I don't care if no else likes her, or everyone thinks she's a Sue! I thought she was nice, and I have the woobiest soft spot ever for first loves, so pretty much she is win in my book. Used two smallish refs, neither one for her exact pose or expression, just her overall look. The lines here are pretty shaky, awesome, but I think it actually looks like her? Haha, I think her hand mutated. Urk.
Time: 15 mins?

You know, I've realized that I have hit something of a snag with this daily doodle plan. What the hell do I do this weekend? I don't think my home computer has any drawing softwares on it yet, but I don't have a scanner either.

Guys, halp, what is a drawing software I can use for frees? OpenCanvas isn't free anymore! Right? I'm up for using like paint chat or tegaki boards or whatever but where in butt-goodness do I find one? I am internet hermit guys, I do not know where all these awesome artist hotspots are.

I AM DETERMINED TO PERSEVERE GUYS. I WILL USE MS PAINT IF I HAVE TO.

Actually, I'd rather like to see what you can come up with in MS Paint. ;-)

Side7 has an oekaki board. Or at least, they did a few years ago back when I used it.

What program are you using now?

I use Adobe Photoshop CS, um, something. Not the latest one. 2, I think. I have a copy at work for the work-makings, and one on my mac, which is borked =(

I am very open to trying other programs, though!

I personally use GIMP. It's similar enough to photoshop without taking forever to load up (I'm cursed with slow computers) And it's free. http://www.gimp.org/

It doesn't always like my wacom, so when I start up, i do a 'test sheet' and if it doesn't register the pen or the pressure sensitivity, I go under the main menu, find preferences->input devices->reset input device settings (or something like that, I'm on a work computer now so I can't check). Close and restart the program and it should work fine. Happens maybe 1/4 the time I use the program, but it's a quick fix for a program that i like :)

Y'know. I've wanted to install an oekaki board on my own website for YEARS. What if one of us did and we could daily doodle together? (Mine would be, uh, weekly doodle but I expect that's better than nothing)
