[Daily Doodle] Quick figure study

Daily Doodle: This is a character for a project I've had on the backburner for a while ([livejournal.com profile] first_seventhe and [livejournal.com profile] bottle_of_shine, you should know which). I had a particular body type in mind for her that I'm still working out the kinks on. She's quite short, very hippy with the legs and butt to go with it -- overall she's supposed to be pretty round and adorable, with a proportionately smaller bust for her body type. Like I said, still working on it.

Nice!

And, if you want crit on these: her torso is WAY short. We tiny people have ribcages too. >D From the top of her head to her crotch should be "about" four lengths of her head. Since you want her to be shorter, obviously that won't be exact but right now she has maybe three lengths which makes it look like her waist is hiding under her breasts.

Crit's pretty much always welcome, thanks! =D

I did intend for her to have a very short torso, but probably not quite as short as it turned out! The location of the waist (I'm here defining that as the narrowest part of the body)on a person seems to vary a lot with body type -- on some long-torso'd girls I've seen there's like acres between their udnerbust and their waist, and on some people (usually shorter, usually plumper), I've seen them start widening out almost immediately under their breasts. Admittedly (and I just realized this, A+ observation and logic) most of those women also had bigger boobs to go with their general curvy bodytype, so it's quite possible that they had longer torsos that I though, and part was just hiding under their magnificent boobage. HM. Points to ponder.

I intend to keep practicing this character, so I'll try to incorporate this having a waist business in next time. Sigh!

Speaking as a hobbit-shaped person with Lulu Boobage, I nod vigorously about the Boobage hiding a significant chunk of ribcage.

*pokes self* My ribcage is a normal height, but there's only about 4 finger widths of vertical between bottom rib (at the sides) and top of hip bone.

They are, at any rate, adorable sketches. Fabulous hips!

In general, the waist is going to fall somewhere near the bottom of the ribs. It might help to sketch in an imaginary ribcage to get an idea of where her waist would realistically fall. I don't really know of any good references for curvy body types but I would hazard to guess there must be some out there.

Now THAT'S a booty!
