owlmoose! I noticed that there was a SEVERE LACK of Paine/Nooj arts, so I thought you might enjoy some! You filled one of my

ff_kissbattle requests and wrote some more Auron/Braska/Jecht-flavoured goodness, so here is my thanks and my congrats =D

A/N: This one went by a lot quicker than usual -- I'm getting better at getting from idea to sketch to decent line art within a reasonable amount of time. This is very encouraging.

I had a TON of fun with ALL THE HAIR. THEY ARE THE CRAZY HAIR COUPLE. You can tell I had a PARTY with Nooj's mega-dread, but honestly, at the top part, I only added like half a switchbakc, and you can't say his hair isn't canonically nearly prehensile or something.

I think I like how their faces turned out; seem pretty on-model to me. I realized (again?) while drawing this that Nooj has a beautiful face, with lovely, fierce, strong structure. (Sidenote: he doesn't look at all effeminite, but that face would look stunningly handsome on a woman, also.)

... And yes. There are boobies. Honestly they were the first thing I drew, because I needed to get Paine's posture right. Except then they distracted me constantly for the rest of the time I was drawing the picture. I am not a ten-year old. I swear.

And *yes* the faces, they came out just right, I love how they are looking straight at each other, so intently.

Wow and thank you and you are right, Nooj does have a stunning facial structure, and there are not nearly enough fanarts of it, especially not of him staring into Paine's eyes, so I can only say THANK YOU for this beautiful addition to the genre, a lot and with many capslocks and exclamation points! !!!!!!

Very nice! That hair is a million of win. My only critique for this one is that Paine's boobs aren't quite lined up properly. Based on where her neck and clavicle are, they should be a little more to the left. From where they are, her ribcage looks very tiny.

OH GOD THE BREASTS. Okay, I spent way too long messing with that, and it wasn't even for the obvious reason of boobage. I finally managed to rustle up a reference photo that came close, and also, um, experimented with mirrors. In the ref photo, would you BELIEVE the breasts were even farther to the right? I followed the ref and then decided hell with it and scooted her cleavage over to the left a bit anyway. She's supposed to be kinda hunched (much of the curve of her back got et by Nooj's mega-dread), so her entire ribcage is supposed to be kinda recessing, taking the boobs with it. So, in theory, she's hunching a bit and her arms are close together up front, squishing her breasts inward a little. God, female anatomy! The great mystery of life!

Anyways, uh. There went The Great Boob Dissertation >.>

I think I will eventually colour this (when I am not thesising), and I think that would be a good time to take another stab at getting the breasts right. For sure, the first thing I'll try is lining them up a little to the left, as you suggest =)

Haha, yeah, there's always one problem spot! I'm glad you realize that a reference is just that... I'm still working on not being obsessed with my reference. Just because it exactly follows real life doesn't mean it won't look wrong! (I say this to myself more often than I would prefer.)

Also. What MIGHT be bugging me is that she has no nipples where I'm expecting them? It doesn't always hold true, especially if she's not 100% upright, but her nipples should be somewhere around one head length from her chin.

I really love dialogue with people who are interested in improving their work! So, thank you for being open minded etc and looking for concrit. <3

Haha, in this case, I was quite intentionally trying to keep it... PG13, or whatever, and tried to position Nooj's hair to tastefully cover... almost everything, really. So the idea was for her breasts to kind of be pointing a little downward, because they're... hanging, a little, I guess, since she's a little hunched, etc. etc. Again with the reference: no nipples anywhere! I could see where they went though (the ref had her arms over them). Again, I adjusted everything a bit to make it look more right. I think... maybe the problem is that for Paine's breasts to function the way I'm trying to do here, they'd have to be bigger than I intended! Like, take Lulu's breasts! When she's slightly bent over, there's lots and lots of bare skin to get over before you get to any nipple. So maybe that is the problem? To pretend her nipples are below the Nooj-hair line, her breasts would have to be a bit bigger?

Such great mystery! I need to do some kind of torso workshop for myself sometime soon >.<

Anyway, after your comment I went to check where one head-length below her chin was. I see that it's a bit off! Darn. I'll take a good close look at that entire area when I get around to colouring this!

Oh hey! You have been helpfully providing feedback on my arts! Could I persuade you to like, art-beta something for me? It's, uh, kind of complicated picture, lots of positioning and clothing and general ARGH ARGH ARGH.

Also we still need to totally meet up for coffee or something. I'm sorry, I've had kind of a hell week recently. Today and tomorrow will be the last of it for a while, though!

Yeah, I could see how it was supposed to be correct but sometimes things still look wrong even when they're technically right. Art is dumb that way. ^_^
