[Doodle] Kingdom Hearts II - Leon/Cloud untitled gropage type stuff
Hey, so, I've been thinking that I should less of an anal, obsessive-compulsive perfectionist about stuff, and unfortunately, "stuff" includes "my art". In the interest of (a) getting better at art; (b) becoming less terrified of showing my art in public; (c) convincing myself that my doodle/sketch-level art is not 300% awful; and (d) posting more often...
I've decided to start posting my doodles and sketches. I apologize for any bleeding of the retinas that may occur.
Here's something I've been doodling after homework.
Fandoms/Characters/Pairings: Kingdom Hearts II: Cloud/Leon
Rating: .. PG? PG13? Mangropage?
Crit/Feedback: Always! Although, you know. It's just a doodle. It kind of has issues XD
To be honest this was motivated by the discussion of Squall'sass character wherein I went looking for screenshots of Leon's ass, since it's close enough and Leon's kind of burning hot and there's more/better pics of him and then I stumbled on THAT SCENE in KHII right before the Battle of the Thousand Heartless (you know which scene) and remembered: fuck but Leon/Cloud is hot.
... obviously this doodle was meant to highlight Leon's ass. Of course, I didn't do it justice but! Someday! Also I realized that I had no idea where Cloud's legs were supposed to go. I R SMRT.
... then I spent all of 30 seconds slapping some flat primary colours on it. XD
x-post: who knows. Anyone wanna tell me who might be interested in seeing this? totally not surreptitiously trying to ferret out Leon/Cloud shippers >.>

Here is Leon gaying it up further. Really it's more like a bolero than a jacket. This is the KH1 design (http://www.creativeuncut.com/gallery-02/kh-squall.html).
Apparently Nomura realized that removing the ruff seriously detracted from the gay factor, so it made a triumphant return in KH2:

I am kind of amused that the tail of cloud's coat looks kind of like a giant furry fox tail and I was like "bzuah? Ira drew furries, whut?" Then I realized what it was, and laughed at myself a lot.
Anyway. I like the tension, and Leon's hair, unf. ALSO THE BELTS AND THE ASS. clearly the most important thing!
I'm not quite sure about the angle of Cloud's head, though; it looks kind of awkward and painful to me though I've no doubt I do much the same thing without realizing it, but I just kind of noticed that his neck seems really long and his chin really high, but I might be totally crazy, this thing is always possible.

The tail of Cloud's coat/wrap THING (wtf IS it???) DOES look, uh... like I could do better. I will try to make it look less silly in successive stages!
CLEARLY, as you say, Leon's ass was the most importing thing and HENCE I did not focus as much as I should have on Cloud. Really that was bad of me! It IS both of them together after all, not just LEONLEONLEON. Then again, I haven't gotten a chance to really like Cloud yet (have barely started FFVII!) which might be why I just amn't paying as much attention to Cloud (and definitely the reason that at this point all I can do is kind of drool vapidly over the hotness -- all I've seen of their dynamics, potential or canonical, is that one encounter in KHII, so pretty much I have no basis for opinion on this pairing besides, "christ they're attractive").
LONG STORY SHORT: I neglected Cloud! Guilty!
His neck DOES look a little wonky, and I noticed this when sketching... I think part of it is that you can't tell how high up his shoulders are -- they're actually pretty high, but Leon's arm/hand on one side and uh, BODY on the other hide the shoulder/neck junction and after that Cloud's kinda rolled his shoulder down, so it looks like his neck is about 3 feet long. ... Then I realize that I drew Cloud's collarbone exactly in a way that makes his neck look mega long -- i.e. put the collarbone correctly in relation to where it LOOKS like his shoulders are -- instead of where it should be in relation to where I ACTUALLY put his shoulders, which are hidden by Leon. GREAT. Thanks for pointing this out -- IT IS KIND OF LAME OF ME.
His facial angle/chin thing! AGAIN LEON IS THE CULPRIT. NOT ME. SWAR. Well, actually, I did try this angle myself to check it, and it's doable, but I think I should tone it down! I confess that I turned Cloud's face a little more away than I should have partly because I was afraid of drawing his expression. I tried a couple times, realized he looked demented/in the process of being raped and, uh... chickened out. I have received my karmic slap on the wrist for my cowardice XD
Anyway, thanks very much for pointing these things out! I'm really grateful you took the time to give some crit, and I'll try and fix these accordingly when I move on to the sketch phase!
... Do you have any ideas for making Cloud more, uh? involved in this piece? or at least for where his legs should go

I... I'll just need to decide what it should BE. I DID have an actual expression in mind for Leon but pretty much failed at making it happen. Har har.
Cloud's currently got one hand on Leon's hip (this is 100% self-indulgence on my part, since I find it HAWT when guys do that -- not so much girls, really, for some reason!) and one hand holding Leon's head. I admit neither of these are very active. I also admit to making it so in part so as to not obscure any part of Leon's backside. I'm glad I make life difficult for myself. Suggestions for not being such a tard are welcome.

Everything I want to say has already been said by above commenters. So um. PRETTY. SEXY. HAWT. YUM. The position may need a bit of shifting, but hum dee dum, the boys wouldn't really make a fuss now would they?

Well, just looking at the position both of them are in, it seems rather strained. If they're both standing up unsupported, it seems like Cloud's up on a step ladder. And this is just my personal opinion, but I think the image would have looked better had Cloud been facing the ground and turned away from Leon with his neck voluntarily exposed, maybe biting on his lower lip.
You have a good sense of proportion and anatomy, I give you that, but I think perhaps it would be better to roughly draw out their entire body to get a feel of the position you want them in, and then to review it to see if it's physically viable.
But otherwise, good job. :3

So much of this image, I realize upon retrospect, was 100% self-indulgence (all about Leon and his ass, Cloud's head tilted up/exposed neck (apparently a THING of mine), Cloud's hand on Leon's hip (also a THING)). If it ever wants to show its face in public again I will have to make it WORK for it, it seems!
Amusing factoid I learned while drawing this: Cloud and Leon are the exact same height, which, as you point out, totally didn't come across here! For the record, in my head Cloud's up against a wall. WELL DONE ME for making this clear.
As for drawing out all bodies involved first -- you know, normally I do, but apparently this was ALL ABOUT LEON and the lower part of Cloud's body just never happened (I did draw the upper part; it's in the undersketches though, which are dimmed). I still kind of like how Leon turned out here, so I think I will try to preserve that while trying out what you suggested for Cloud.
Anyway, long story short, thanks for the crit! You helped me realize a lot about why this picture wasn't working =)
