[Icons] FFX - Yuna 10 Variations

I did a a set like this for Tidus and then got it into my head to do one for each of the main characters. It's fun =)

Notes: I tried to experiment more with textures, since I'm generally pretty shy about using those, but ended up using my favourite texture too much. Is it very obvious? >.>

01: fake a smile
I couldn't decide if I liked the textless version better or what, so I made the textless an alternate (11). And look! I managed to omit the eyes!

02: laid to rest
And again I couldn't decide if I liked the brighter version or that nice mulberry colour. So this one has an alternate, too, 12.

03: soul
I spent a LONG time working with this idea and trying to get the things to balance right. I still think it feels a little off, but I just couldn't figure out what to do to improve it.

04: there are two sides to every story
I flipped the image and moved things around a bit and I was just fascinated by how one half of her face seems to be smiling and the other seems so serious! You don't notice it when the face isn't broken up like that, but it's really a rather marked difference. I thought it worked out well for a mirror icon =)

05:
I like the layout okay but I just COULD NOT think of a single thing to say.

06:
Rounded box border and elaborate letter brush thingy from weapons_icons, awesometastic colour texture from tihana. If anyone can think of anything clever to say please let me know, cause I'm stumped, even though I like this one lots.

07: Queen of Wands
Maybe I should do a Tarot FFX set >.>

08: focus
Random swoopy brush from weapons_icons and grainy black and white texture from letsbebad. Yes, I know I have an eye obsession.

They're beautiful. Some of the details are a bit hard to make out in these (something I've been struggling with, you know!) compared to your Tidus icons -- I couldn't figure out the words "laid to rest" without the caption, e.g.
I love the Queen of Wands (great idea) and the mirror-smile icon is very interesting! On that one, you might try moving the frown out into the image a little more; pushed to the side, it tends to vanish a bit, and i'm not sure I'd have noticed it had you not explained what you were doing. (See my icon here for a similar problem with Auron's eyes.)

Thanks for your suggestions and observations -- I really appreciate them. I'll take another look at these when I'm less blind -- I don't know if you've been reading my wangst reports, but part of the problem is that I'm mostly half-blind these days. So! When I am less blind I will take another look and fix those things =)

Hmm... is the mulberry "laid to rest" one easier to make out than the bright one?

I am, by the way, totally and not at all addicted to partially desaturated pictures. Never.

Although I think overall my icons turn out surprisingly bright, for someone who loves the desat so hard >.>

Anyway, I'm bored on my lunch break and rambly, so I'll just round this off with a resounding thank you! And also possibly I might actually make the tarot set >.>

And also possibly I should not icon while visually impaired, but the deadline for these was, um, today, and I think I did okay overall with the blindness XD
