[Recs] The recs! They shall return!
A stray comment reminded me that I have like a bajillion recs sitting around waiting to be pimped, and I only have a small portion of them posted in this journal.
I also realized that I should maybe do more with this journal than post icons and whine.
So! I know how hard it is to find good stuff in any fandom. I'm a fandom whore, and recs make my black little heart squee with joy.
Therefore, I'm going to try to take up reccing again. Hopefully this will be a weekly thing. All the recs that were up before (those BIG LONG LISTS a few entires back) will eventually become available on my site when it opensin forever and a half. I'm also going to try to make a weekly post with stuff that I found neat this week.
Mind, I'm terriblyelitist picky and I have A LOT of fandoms I enjoy. Take a look at the list of fandoms I recced art in to see that I am really, really not kidding about that. So one particular fandom might not get much love in a given week, or I might form a transient obsession with something and rec it madly for a week or two.
Also, I love every kind of fannish medium. Art, fics, AMVs, fan comics, anything. Hell, there have been some really good cosplays that I wouldn't mind drawing people's attention to. So, there shall be much variety of medium, one hopes.
Finally, I love every kind of rating and every kind of story type. I'll rec anything from G fluff to XXX pr0n, as long as I think it's a good example of whatever it's trying to be. Besides loving het, slash, and femmeslash more or less equally, I also love stories where romance isn't The Point -- plotty adventure stories, friendship fics, anything, really. Truly, I like most things.
Except bad characterization. That really doesn't fly with me. Ahem.
Why rec? Well, I would sure love it if there were a place I could go to satisfy my need for good stuff in any/all of my fandoms. So, because the Golden Rule is everyone's friend and I believe in karma, and because I just think it's neat, I'll try to pimp out all those things that I think are good.
Truly, though? my opinion doesn't matter. You might not like some of the things I rec, though I'm pretty particular about it. Or you might never see your favourite story/art/amv/whatever on the list. Why? Well, maybe I never found it. Or maybe it just wasn't to my taste. Who knows? Just please try not to take offense, cause I really, really don't mean anything bad by it.
So, yes. Hopefully, recs will be a weekly feature in this journal.
